A -28- year- old Man, Sunday Stephen who allegedly stole different types of telephone handsets valued at N81,500,was on Tuesday arraigned in Lagos.
Stephen, who gave no fixed address, is facing a charge of stealing before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The prosecutor, Insp. Peter Nwangwu told the court that the accused committed the offence on Sept.16 at No 98 Ibari, Old Ota road, Alagbado, Lagos.
Nwangwu alleged that the accused went to the shop under the pretext that he wanted to buy some phones and stole a Nokia phone valued at N21,500
"He also carted away four other mobile phones-- all valued at N60,000, properties of one Tayo Oni.
"The accused was later apprehended after the complainant reported the incident to the police,’’ he said.
Nwangwu said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs T.O Shomade, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to Oct. 28 for mention.
