Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung in Durban South Africa. In 2013,Nigeria engaged South Africa with the aim of learning their models of High performance centres with the hope of establishing similar centres in Nigeria..Because of transition to new government,it did not materialize.

Now the minister is here to abreast himself with the models of High performance Centres in South Africa "to see how we can decide our own models". Also the visit is to enable "us get cross-pollination of ideas between South and Nigeria" in the area of High performance systems.

The minister visited three centres in South Africa- Pretoria centre,Durban centre and Capetown.

There are only 5 olympic approved High performance centres in Africa. 3 in South Africa,one in Kenya and one in Malawi. None in Nigeria.

He said South Africa is a good option for Nigeria to get their own model of High Performance Centre because of similarity in culture. He said Nigeria cannot afford to do without High Performance centres.He added that sports is moving from talent and skill to science.

He promised that the High Performance systems in Nigeria will be more sophisticated than south Africa that South Africa would come to Nigeria to learn and share ideas.

3. Alhaji Abubakar Salihu Ramat.  Vice Consul,incharge of sport,Education and Health.Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, johannesburg
