President Buhari Cancels Visit To Ogoni Land, VP Osinbajo Set To Represent Him

President Muhammadu Buhari will not be going to Ogoniland, Rivers State, for the Niger Delta Clean Up afterall. He will be represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Bodo, Ogoniland for the kick-off of the exercise. 

Although, no reason was given for the cancellation of the visit, it followed threats by militants- Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) on the life of the president. The personal assistant to Pres. Buhari on new Media,Bashir Ahmad tweeted the new development. 

‎The clean-up of the Niger Delta is on the recommendation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) which submitted its report to former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011.

According to environment experts, the clean-up of the Niger Delta may take 20 years or more to accomplish.
