"I am pleased that Tuberculosis is finally receiving a more deserving label, it is now viewed as a global emergency that demands a political response at the highest level.
I am pleased to recognize the leadership of the Honorable Minister of Health Prof. Isaac Adewole in overseeing these efforts.
I am also pleased to highlight the impressive leadership of the Stop TB partnership Nigeria which has brought together government parliamentarians development partners private sector civil society and others to unite our response to TB in nigeria.
It is clear that TB deserves a place at the top of the agenda, just as the world mobilized for small pox, HIV/AIDS and Ebola and treated them as emergencies its time to start giving TB the resources and political attention this epidermic deserves.
I want to end by reminding you that the biggest breakthroughs come when you least expect it. I believe the TB community is on the verge of a break through. We have the vision, we have the plan and we have the collective resources and power of the impressive group of leaders around the table today.
You can count on my full support as we move towards the finish line to end the TB epidemic once and for all."
