Acting President Professor Yemi Osinbajo has directed the intervention of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing to ensure Ariaria International Market, Abia State, is provided with 24/7 power supply.
To achieve this, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has been given the mandate to provide adequate electricity to the Market. The REA has now commenced a technical study to collect data and determine the Market's power requirements.
The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, made a strong and persuasive case to the Presidency for the power intervention in Ariaria Market. Sir Emma Nwakpadolu, President Aba Chamber of Commerce, is grateful to the Acting President, Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing & Abia State Government for their plans for the market.
The leadership of various clusters in the Market have agreed to assist the REA with all the support required to implement the project. The Federal Government's delegation to Ariaria the was led by the Managing Director,REA, Mrs Damilola Ogunbiyi. Abia Government delegation was led by Mr. Chinenye Nwogu & SSA to the Governor on Public Communications, Sam Hart.
